Build a tool to synchronize iPhoto Libraries with Flickr Sets, using a MacFuse filesystem.
$ 32.32 dougransom created this contract on Feb 16, 2008
A file system for OSX that, for specified albums in IPhoto that are tagged with flickr synchronization:
  • maps that album to a folder with the images
  • syncs the contents of that folder to a flickr set
  • photos in more than one album are "linked" so that they are the same photo on flickr as well
  • when they are synced to flickr, any tags, exif data, geotagging, captions, descriptions, etc. are preserved and iptc tags are added on the export.
  • it is important that as new photos are added to an album, they are automatically synced to flickr the next time the file system is mounted. I don't want to have to recall which photos I have added to an album and upload them and add them to the folder. I don't want to remember which albums I have modified. I just want my photos and albums synced to flickr. I just want to tag an album in IPhoto (or the new filesystem) as synchronized with flickr.
  • there should be a first-time-use mode where the existing albums are marked as "synchronized" without actually transferring the files to flickr.

I think this would be a pretty cool hobby project for someone. Folks have built fuse-based file systems in agile languages like Python with a surprisingly small amount of code. Leave a note if you would be interested in building this and how much you would want.

I think this would the best flickr uploader solution ever.

Synchronizing collections could be dealt with in version 2.

Project must be released under a GPL or BSD license.

Are you interested in building this?

The $100 proposed may not be enough for you to build this. Leave a comment with your price and let the crowd fund it.
